Dr José António L. Barão-Nóbrega has an academic background in herpetological research fuelled by an unexplainable fondness for crocodilians, swamps, and tropical forests. Over the last decade, his professional interests grew into applying remote sensing tools (GIS), drone technology and citizen science to biodiversity monitoring and wildlife conservation and research. At rePLANET, he oversees the project development teams in preparing Project Idea Notes (PIN) and Project Development Documents (PDD) for Nature Based Solutions type projects (Carbon and Biodiversity). He also leads the data analyst team in the technical screening requirements for new projects in the rePLANET pipeline and in continuously looking to improve our MRV standards to stay at the forefront of current R&D and always adapting to match the current best practice requirements in this rapidly changing environment.
