The Wallacea Trust Methodology was developed under CEO Dr. Tim Coles with scientists at Operation Wallacea and rePLANET, pioneering the “basket of metrics” approach, capturing species richness, abundance, conservation value and habitat quality to give a unit of biodiversity gain. This represents the biodiversity equivalent to the tonne of CO2e unit used by the carbon markets.

Every claim is independently audited by the Biodiversity Futures Initiative, a NERC-funded academic peer review body. This is not a tick-box process, it is robust verification that holds up to institutional scrutiny. And from 2027, the Wallacea Methodology will offer a global biodiversity accreditation standard, delivering the highest integrity certification against positive nature metrics, social impact, as well as covering critical governance measures such as additionality and permanence.
